This will be a long term plan, covering at least the next five years. We are a big and diverse organisation with around 55,000 volunteers, 2,500 employees and over 2,000 projects, and we don't have a bottomless pot of money and resources. WRVS is currently running at a deficit, so one of the challenges we have is to attract new funding sources.

We will invest some of our reserves as part of this plan, but this investment will need bring in new, regular funding, making WRVS financially sustainable in the long term. What the plan will do is provide a clear direction and focus for WRVS, and set out the steps we'll need to take each year to improve the support we provide to older people, and attract the volunteers, supporters and funding we need to do that.
