news030709_angelageerShe will lead the transformation of all WRVS services so that they provide the sorts of innovative, personalised and practical services that older people say they want, using the power of volunteers.

Angela will lead the integration of current services and the development of new work across Britain with WRVS’ executive team and trustees to ensure WRVS can meet the varying needs of older people, making sure there are consistently high quality services across Britain.

Angela brings considerable experience of the public, private, charitable and not for profit sectors. Her previous roles include: director of business development and marketing at Craegmoor Healthcare, director of corporate services and development with the Sedgemoor Group and development director for Care UK Children’s Services division. She worked with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Hong Kong and with International Social Services in South Africa developing post apartheid social care services.

Angela said “I am absolutely delighted to be joining WRVS. I feel honoured and proud to be joining an organisation that touches the lives of so many older people in communities across Britain and does so through the practical support of so many volunteers, who give their time to make a difference. WRVS is a great part of our British heritage and I am thrilled to be joining the WRVS team at such an exciting time.”

Lynne Berry, WRVS chief executive said “We are very pleased that Angela is joining us at a key moment for WRVS. As a result of our recent social impact report, we know what older people like and what they don’t like about our services. We also know that we need to develop our services so that they meet the personalisation agenda in health and social care and we need to work with local authorities, the NHS and other partners to use every opportunity to support older people’s well-being.”

Angela’s breadth of experience will make a huge difference to our ability to transform our services so that we can find new ways to support older people to live the lives they want to live.”
